This was literally the first time I've tried this process. Another artist suggested I output a PNG file and use it to composite onto a background. So I rendered the character with PNG and no background, then the Background without subject and composited them. I found I could adjust either one without changing the other too much, and that gave me a hint more control. I liked the result, and make no mistake. I am so glad you liked it too. (smiles)
